Request and Approve is a feature indicated by the Request tag on the product it applies to. When a product is set to request and approve, guests will first request a product before hosts approve it and the guest is charged. At launch, this product type will only apply to the Early Check-In and Late Check-Out products automatically added to stores upon creation.
Guest Checkout Process
To purchase a Request and Approve product, guests will first request the item by adding the product to cart in the store and checking out. Once the guest has completed the checkout process, a hold will be placed on their funds, but they won't be charged. Once the host has approved or denied the request, the guest will be notified via email.
- If the request is approved, the guest will be charged the full amount for the product and the transaction will complete. Email receipts will be sent and the sale will be included in sales tab information.
- If the request is denied, the guest will be notified and the transaction will not go through. The hold will be released and the guest will not be charged.
Host Process
Once a guest requests an item, the account email will receive an email with Approve and Deny buttons which link to a webpage. The host must then open the email, and click the appropriate button to be linked to the approval webpage. Once there, the host will be prompted to Approve or Deny the request. After a request, hosts have until the requested date to approve or deny the request. If a host fails to respond before then, the request is automatically denied.
Early Check-Ins and Late Check-Outs
Currently, the Request and Approve product type only applies to the Early Check-In and Late Check-Out products included at store creation. There is no way to add products with this feature to your store. Follow this article or keep an eye on your store dashboard for updates that are coming soon!
